While there are pay transparency laws in 8 states and 7 cities/counties, that number may quadruple based on the number of laws proposed in the first three months of 2023. The provisions of the proposed laws vary but they all look to provide job seekers with clarity and visibility into their potential pay and many also extend that right to employees. During our discussion, WTW will share a run-down of the proposed laws, including the State of Missouri’s 2023 MO SB64, as well as best practice perspectives about preparing for the mandates, leveraging insights gathered from WTW’s 2022 Pay Clarity Survey and lessons learned from NYC’s pay transparency law.
Mariann Madden is a Work & Rewards Director based in WTW’s Chicago office and co-leads the North American Fair Pay team which supports clients in defining, communicating and evaluating their commitments to fair pay. She has over 25 years of experience as an advisor in the design of job frameworks and pay structures as well as defining the management and governance of them which are key in testing and validating if pay programs are administered in a consistent and fair manner.
