After a decade of historic growth, America's aging workforce was blindsided by the unprecedented disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The combination of health concerns, layoffs and volatility in the financial markets forced many older employees to rethink their retirement plans...and the Social Security & Medicare filing decisions upon which those plans are often built.
This fast-paced, engaging presentation looks at the Social Security & Medicare basics that are in play for older employees as they approach retirement. It then explores some of the specific challenges that have emerged as this group attempts to navigate the unique, and often complex, eligibility and enrollment landscape where retirement & healthcare benefits intersect with Social Security & Medicare.
Tom Wright began his career in 1980 with John Hancock Financial Services. From 1984 to 2016 he was a financial advisor specializing in employee benefits. He then created the Turning 65 Workshop (turning65workshop.com) to provide much-needed Medicare & Social Security learnings programs for older employees in the workplace, as well as advanced training for HR and Benefits professionals. He's been quoted on various benefit topics by media outlets including Kiplinger's and Fortune magazines, and The Boston Globe. He's also been a featured guest on a number of television and radio programs, and more recently podcasts.
