Generational Challenges in the Recruitment and Retention of Talent

LISA SILBER, M.ED., A.C.C.
SENIOR CONSULTANT, GALLAGHER

Each generation possess recognized characteristics, stimulated by cultural influences in their formative years.  The workforce of each generation demonstrates different values and work habits.  Those who understand the uniqueness of each generation will have greater success in recruiting and retaining the best workers.  While each generation is unique and cannot be placed in a one box or another, the influences during their formative years has impacted them in particular ways.   The key is to acknowledge the differences in the generations and not try to determine which is better.  This just builds more gaps in the generations.  Instead embrace how each generation is different; this is how you win in the recruitment and retention game.
