Hello CBN Members!
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! I'm looking forward to getting the group back together in September to start off the 2018-2019 program year. The CBN Board has been meeting periodically over the summer to plan for the remainder of the year and beyond. We're looking forward to wrapping up our plans in the near future so keep an eye out for communications and updates on the website.
Speaking of the website, I want to thank CBN’s outgoing president Scott Verbest, who led our group to new heights by implementing a long-overdue new website (which also includes the Wild Apricot membership record keeping system). I’m thrilled that Scott will still be around with his knowledge and enthusiasm to serve as past president. He will be meandering around and helping out wherever he can! I would be remiss if I didn’t also thank Louise VanLandingham (aka "Weezie"). She is the glue that has held us together for years, but her valuable input and time into the website is commendable. There were others involved and thanks to all of you also, but kudos to Scott and Weezie for their dedication in moving us forward!
If you haven’t noticed, we have some new faces on the board! Patrick Cole and Jeremiah Essmyer have joined the Program Committee and Melanie Hebda is on the Communications Committee. I can’t thank them enough for stepping up! Welcome also to our newest board members, Peggy Schuettenberg who will lead the Professional Development (formerly Education) Committee and Kimberly Powell who will lead us in Community Outreach. I’m very excited to bring back Community Outreach and about the entire team we have in place!
Of course your involvement as members is crucial as well! If you are interested in helping out in any way, we’d love to have you in whatever capacity you can participate. One way in which you and your organization can help is by hosting one of our program meetings at your location. If you have the available facilities or would like to showcase a new building, demonstrate something of interest to the membership or just want to be hospitable, please let us know!
As we progress through the year, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me personally if you have any questions, comments, or feedback on anything CBN-related… or just to say HI! It’s important to me to hear your voice as members, and to orient the organization’s services to your needs. CBN has been a fantastic resource to me since I first joined – I’ve met smart people who have become co-workers, bosses, friends, and who, more importantly, enrich my life professionally and personally. My personal goal this year is to help facilitate you all having a similar experience!
Thank you for your membership in CBN, and I look forward to continuing our mission of developing and connecting compensation and benefits professionals in the greater St. Louis area. I look forwarding to seeing you soon.
